1 cup sesame seeds
½ cup grape seed oil or olive oil
Salt to taste
Toast sesame seeds in a dry saucepan over medium-low heat for 3-5 minutes until the seeds become fragrant and changes color slightly. They can burn quickly so better be careful while toasting.
Blend the sesame seeds while they are warm as they have their own oil which gets released while blending. In 2-3 minutes, they will come up as a smooth paste.
Add oil and blend again.
When it becomes smooth and pourable, add salt and blend again for few seconds.
Your homemade preservative-free Tahini is ready!
Transfer it in a jar or container. You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
Olive oil has its own flavor. If you don’t want that then use any neutral flavor oil.
